Supporting schools is central to the work of the York Music Hub. We believe that a school alive with music is a happier, more inclusive, and more successful environment where every child can thrive.
Our mission is simple: to ensure that every school in York can access high-quality music education. We work in partnership with schools to provide support, expertise, and opportunities that bring music to life for all children and young people.
Learning music does more than develop musical skills. Research shows that children who play an instrument often achieve more across the curriculum. Music also plays a vital role in brain development, enhancing language, coordination, emotional wellbeing, and teamwork.
Music is not an optional extra — it is an essential part of a well-rounded education. We understand that delivering a rich music offer can be challenging, and that’s why we’re here to help.
Together, we can ensure every child has the chance to experience, create, and succeed through music.
We can support you with:
Our Leadership and Excellence teams in York offer two free one-hour curriculum review and support meetings for every school. Drawing on a wide range of expertise, we help schools review, strengthen, and develop their music provision. Additional support can also be arranged where needed.
